2008 Season Update

We are now in the final week of the Fall 2008 season. Our upper division teams (U16 and U19) have completed their season and many of the players have moved on to their high school soccer teams. The U12 and U14 divisions are wrapping up their schedules with teams from neighboring regions. The top teams in the U12 and U14 divisions will be invited to participate in the Area 2B playoffs that will be held on December 6-7.

Teams in the U6-U8 divisions have finished their season. Thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who helped to make the season the success that it was for all of the players.

Teams in the U10, U12, and U14 divisions began Millbrae Cup tournament play on Nov 15. Schedules can be downloaded above. All games will be played at Taylor Field. A coaches game will be played on Nov 23 at approximately 3pm. All coaches and assistant coaches are invited to participate - spectators welcome!

Please remember that it is the job of the parents and spectators to make it a fun and positive experience for all of the players. It is also important to remember that we are a 100% volunteer organization. That means everyone you see out there (including the referees) are volunteering their time for the benefit of the kids.

Speaking of Volunteers . . .

We need more help from the parents. You may be surprised to learn that it is volunteers, not the city or recreation department, that sets up the fields. We go out there every Friday afternoon and paint the lines on the fields. We are out there at 8:00am on Saturday morning setting up the goals and putting out trash/recycling containers. Then our volunteers staff the snack bar, referee 20+ games and stick around to put everything away at the end of the day.

What can you do to help? Just give us a call or talk with a board member at the fields and let us know what you would like to do to help. We don't ask for a huge commitment, just a little help to make the program work.

Millbrae AYSO has 600 players that range in age from 4 years old to 18 years.

Our program is strong and getting stronger!

Referee and Coach Clinics

One of the great things about being a volunteer in AYSO is that you can receive an amazing amount of training for free. If you would like to become a coach or referee, there are clinics being conducted in and around Millbrae year-round. Please use the Referee and Coach tabs to get information about upcoming clinics.

AYSO's Five Philosophies Separate Us From The Pack

Everyone Plays

Our program's goal is for kids to play soccer-so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.

Balanced Teams

Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible-because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.

Open Registration

Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.

Positive Coaching

Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players.

Good Sportsmanship

We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.
